Various

Being a Man U fan for many, many years - I've got used to the hatred shown to the club, players and fans by opposition clubs, players and fans, many without any reason at all. I've escaped Elland Road very lucky to escape a serious beating, Anfield, Maine Road and other grounds where I've listened to Neanderthal thugs sing songs about people that died in an airplane crash. Don't get me wrong, United fans have sung songs to opposition fans that have equally disgusted me, and on one occasion, almost got myself thrown out of Old Trafford trying to shut some of them up.

So it doesn't come as a great surpirse to me to see and hear the 'up in arms' fans phone-ins and biased BBC reporters (Alan Green in particular) being massively critical of Ronaldo after United's 4-0 win at Tottenham this evening.
Did he dive to win United a penalty? Possibly. Was he the only player on the pitch to dive to gain an advantage over his opponents? Absolutely not.
Where is the criticism of Dawson for his incredible dive to get Larson booked? Or the right back to get Rooney booked (can't remember his name)? Or of the Tottenham striker trying to get a penalty later in the game? Or of Scholes attemps to get himself sent off and not even getting a booking? Not a mention on BBC radio 5 after match phone in, or of www.football365.com. And before anyone trieds to justify the effect of the individuals actions, Rooney misses an FA Cup tie because of his unwarranted booking.
Football has a problem with diving, yes. But please don't drop it on the shoulders of one player -that is very, very blinkered and it sure won't help solve the problem either.

Spent a very enjoyable evening last night at our local amaetur dramatics theatre watching their version of Alan Bennet's Habeas Corpus. Very funny sex-farce, details can be seen HERE. Cathy bought them me for my birthday, so a nice surprise.

Poker continues to slowly add to my bankroll, have joined up at Tony G poker as my next port of Bonus Whoring - though this is a tougher one to achieve than usual. Low traffic may mean I don't complete it all before moving on, initial reaction is that I don't like it at all.

Anyway, enough from me - good luck at the tables.

Ronaldo may have dived but the earlier tackle on Larsson should have been a Pen anyway so it was a case of things evening out. Rooney deserved to get booked you could see the Red Mist in his eyes and it was either that or he was going to seriously damage someone.
When you're at the top everyone tries to shoot you down, that's why they all want a pop a Ronaldo now, he's possibly player of the season for me.

Yeah, I agree with you on the Ronaldo, player of the season - he's a player I think most football fans would want in their team.
I know what you mean about Rooney, however, you can't book a player because you think he may do something. It's a bit like arresting a lad in the 'scroats uniform' because you think he's going to rob your house!

And having watchied the highlights last night - how bad was the referee? I don't like critiscing too much as I am one myself, but he had a very poor game.

There is a fine line between gamesmanship and cheating. Personally I dont see why a player needs to always look for a foul when he could just ride the challenge and utilise his obvious talent. Its not just ronaldo who gets singled out. Drogba and robben also get alot of stick. the perfect illustration of my suggestion that talented players should play the game rather than play the referee is drogba. This season hes stopped falling over every time a anyone breathes on him and look at what hes achieved. Play the game. the boys got talent. Why play the game on your back.
