Poker Smiles

Evening all - hope you are all making the most of this lovely sunshine. Knowing our Great British weather, not sure how long it will last! Spent an enjoyable weekend in the garden, playing and tidying up the garden, taking full advantage of whole days out with the little one!
She was so tired Sunday night, she fell asleep on the bedroom floor (we have wooden flooring, rather than carpets!). Well, we thouight it was because she was so tired - but after moving her back to her bed, I got up for work and found her back on the floor. Every night since, she has curled up in the most uncomfortable looking position, and fallen fast asleep by the door to her room!

Poker was equally sunny on Sunday, starting off good as I won 5 and came 2nd in the other - in 6 consecutive SNG's. This put me in a great mood as I moved to cash tables and found a coupleof players who just could not shake off top pair as I flopped a set and a str8, which paid off handsomely.
So, as I waited for the BritBlogger to start, my spirits and confidence were sky high. This seemed to rub off on the game and I played probably the best I've played in this series of tourny's. Played my hands very selectively, used my position well and re-raised stronger hands off pots a couple of times. I got very unlucky in 2 hands that could have sealed a win, but also hit a couple of lucky rivers to win pots I should have lost. Guess we can all relate to this at some point since we started playing these games.
The heads up battle seemed to go on forever - and I think dD got it spot on - we both wanted not to lose, rather than to win - as we were both far too passive, if I'm honest. The banter from the players that stayed on was good, and Amatay took down the final hand to win the tourny. Well played mate - I'll be after you on Sunday!!

Played a little bit Monday night and added the 30$ that took me into a positive for the year. After my horrendous start to the year, I'm glad I've got this behind me, and hopefully these sunny times will be with me for the future, and allow me to post another yearly profit.
I'm writing this from a hotel room in Taunton, where I am visiting our head office for a couple of days. The time here is enjoyable, as I get to see the people I talk to regularly as well as catch up with directors and other managers for various workshops and idea sharing. It's a great company to work for, the directors tend to leave me to it - just asking for a brief report every Friday, and only calling to discuss new opportunities and business, or if they know I face a particular challenge or problem. Great to have bosses like this, and I've really enjoyed the (almost) 9 months since I joined and seen the office grow.

Ok, off to some souless harvester type palce for a bite to eat and drink, then I'll hit the tables for a couple of hours later.

Bring me sunshine.......

Looks like you're flying right now (5 wins and a second looks mighty impressive).
Good work Mark.

Thanks Cloud - nice when things are going well!
I always feel bad blogging good wins, as I don't want to appear to be bragging or showing off. I sometimes find it easier to talk about the bad beats - so maybe i've got to find a better balance between talking about the good runs and the bad ones.

Nice to be back in to a + for the year :-)
